Importance of Maternal Mental Health Proclaimed in Kansas
Thanks to the work of MNU students and Associate Professor Andrew Secor, PhD, LCPC, LCMFT, LCAC, CCMHC, NCC, RPT-S, Kansas Governor Laura Kelly declared May, Maternal Mental Health Month in Kansas. In her remarks, Gov. Kelly recognized the importance of bringing awareness to the challenges mothers face.

MNU Hosts Influencer Luncheon to Address Kansas Teacher Shortages 
National, state, and local leaders gathered on the campus of MidAmerica Nazarene University last week to discuss challenges to public education and how MNU could be part of the solution to teacher shortages across Kansas and other states.  U.S. Rep. Sharice Davids (D-KS) greeted participants discussing teacher shortages.

Top Educator Award Goes to MNU Alum
Alumnus Matt Mayeske, Class of 2018, received the national Milken Educator Award by the Milken Family Foundation on February 8. The prestigious recognition comes with an unrestricted $25,000 cash prize and honors outstanding educators across the country for excellence in and out of the classroom.

President's Honors was a resounding success, with over $800,000 raised, bringing the total amount raised over 12 years of the gala to an impressive $7.5 million.

This week, MNU expressed appreciation to local legislators who represent the districts, including MNU and Johnson County. Guests for the luncheon included Senator Dinah Sikes, Representative Robyn Essex, Representative Allison Houghland, and Representative Nikki McDonald.
